In order to study the role of fruit tree rootstocks on nutrient content in leaves of two Iranian red flesh apple genotypes and to determine the correlation of nutrients with different secondary metabolites, this study was conducted in Research Garden of Horticultural Sciences of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad during 2017-2019. The rootstocks that used were two dwarfing rootstocks, M9 and B9 and one red flesh apple colony rootstock of Bekran which were tested in a factorial randomized complete block design. The results of this study showed that the rootstock had a significant effect on nitrogen and phosphorus content in leaf samples of two red flesh apple genotypes and Red delicious cultivar, also, rootstock, scion and their interaction had a significant effect on potassium, iron, calcium and zinc content of leaf samples. The effect of B9 on the amount of all elements of scion leaves was negative and the effect of M9 was positive in all cases. The results showed that PAL enzyme activity was positively correlated with nitrogen, potassium, calcium, iron and zinc. Anthocyanin synthesis was also positively correlated with nitrogen content (0.47). The results showed that the amount of potassium, calcium and iron were highly correlated with UFGT activity. Total flavonoid content was also significantly correlated with calcium and zinc (-0.64 and -0.45, respectively) that these effects could be due to the participation of some of these nutrients as cofactors in enzyme activity and or precursors of phenolic compounds and secondary metabolites.

In order to investigate the effect of different levels of Trichoderma fungus on some morpho-physiological, flowering and biochemical traits of tuberose flower under drought stress conditions, an experiment was conducted in a factorial based on completely randomized design with three replications in Research Greenhouses of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in 2016. Drought stress treatments included irrigation at 100, 50 and 25% of field capacity and fungal treatments included three levels of 20, 10 and 0% of fungus. The results showed that drought stress increased the amount of antioxidant, total chlorophyll and proline. In addition to drough stress, had a negative significant effect on fresh and dry weights of root and biomass, relative water content of leaves, floret diameter and number of open floret, but Trichoderma largely moderated these negative effects. The highest amounts of total chlorophyll (1.04 mg/g leaf fresh weight) and relative humidity of leaf water (85.2%) were obtained at 10% level of fungus, which did not show a significant difference from those at 20% level of fungus. In the rest of the traits, the highest levels were found at 20% level of fungus. Since the Trichoderma fungus, besides reducing the effects of drought stress, increases vegetative growth and increases the number of open florets (which is considered as an important factor in the marketability) of tuberose flower, use of it can be suggested as a biological factor in increasing the quality of tuberose flower in similar conditions.

This study was conducted with the main prupose of investigation the effects of culture medium and the concentration of growth regulators on proliferation rate, rooting and the acclimatization of Gisela 6 rootstock at Khorasan Razavi Agriculture and Natural Resource Research Center during 2011-2012. In this experiment, the proliferation and rooting were performed in six kinds of culture medium (DKW, WPM and MS in two solid and liquid media) supplemented with plant growth regulators included TDZ and BAP in zero, one, two mg/l plus 0.01 mg/l IBA in all treatments of the proliferation and IBA with zero, one, two, three mg/l in rooting step. The results showed that the highest number and length of shoot were 6.48 shoot and 3.14 cm, respectively in solid WPM medium and two mg/l BAP concentration and liquid MS medium with one mg/l concentration of TDZ. The liquid MS medium in two mg/l of IBA caused the highest percentage of rooting and root length, 93.90 percent in 11.76 cm, respectively. Although applying the liquid media resulted in better acclimatization of plantlets, but the highest percent of plantlets survival was obtained in WPM liquid medium with two mg/l concentration of IBA at about 91.80 percent.

This experiment was carried out to study effects of mechanical and chemical treatments for developing lateral shoot and increasing quality of sweet cherry, apple and pear trees in 2010-2011 in three independent experiments. In the first experiment, effect of the heading treatments in four levels (control, 40, 60 and 80 cm), in the second experiment, BA treatments in four levels (0, 200, 400, 600 mgL-1) and spraying times in three levels (1, 2 and 3 times) and in the third experiment, Arbolin treatments in four level (0, 5, 15, 25 mlL-1) and spraying times in two level (1 and 2 times) were investigated. Results showed that mechanical and chemical treatments improved the branching of trees but the lateral shoot number with chemical treatments had significant increase in comparison with heading treatments. Therefore, the most lateral shoot number was induced with BA in concentration of 600mgL-1 in three times. The mechanical and chemical treatments in sweet cherry induced lateral shoots more than apple and pear trees. ‘Siah Mashhad’, ‘Red Delicious’ and ‘Spadona’ induced more lateral shoot numbers in comparision with other cultivars.
