In order to investigate the effect of different irrigation regimes on yield and leaf proline content of a spring Isfahan local variety of safflower, a field experiment was conducted as split plot in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications at the Research Station of Shahrekord University in 2013-2014. The main factor consisted of four different irrigation regimes (irrigation after 50, 80, 130 and 180 mm evaporation of water from evaporation pan class A) and subplots were spraying humic acid (at a rate of zero, one, three and six liters per hectare). Evaluated traits in this experiment included, the number of heads per plant, 1000 seeds weight, oil content, grain yield, oil yield and leaf proline content. Irrigation treatments and foliar application of humic acid significantly contributed to the above characteristics. Based on means comparisons, less irrigation caused a significant decrease and spraying humic acid also increased significantly number of heads per plant, 1000 seeds weight, grain yield and oil yield. Also, with increased Irrigation and increase application of humic acid, oil content and proline compared to the control group showed a significant increase. In addition, increased irrigation, increase seed oil content from 22.22 percent to 25.43 percent (in irrigation treatment after 180 mm evaporation and application of six lit/ha) has been upgraded. Oil yield also decreased as a result of irrigation after 50 mm evaporation from 394 to 289 kg per hectare after 180 mm evaporation.

Due to importance of nitrogen on the agronomic traits of linseed oil, a factorial experiment was conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications at the field research station of Faculty of Agriculture at Shahrekord University in 2012. Five different treatments of fertilizer including urea, azomin, nitroxin, supernitroplus and control (without nitrogen) as the first factor and three ectotype of Iranian, French and Canadian linseed as second factor were evaluted. The results showed that, ecotypes and fertilizer treatments had significant effects on the plant height, leaf number, number of lateral branches, number of capsule, shoot dry weight per plant and grain yield per m2. The maximum leaf number, number of lateral branches, number of capsule and shoot dry weight per plant were observed in French ecotype, while for the other traits, Iranian ecotype had priority. The traits measured under the chemical nitrogen treatment (urea) was greater than other fertilizer treatment. Although the resonse of linseed to biological and organic nitrogen was lower than chemical nitrogen but it was significantly higher than control. Thus, application of biological and organic nitrogen, due to less environmental pollution, is reasonable compare to chemical fertilizer.

In order to evaluate the variation of some of quantitative and qualitative traits of different varieties of linseed under different plant densities, an experiment was conducted in the research station of the Faculty of Agriculture in Shahrekord Univerity in 2009. This experiment was arranged as factorial in RCBD design with three replications. Four linseeds originated from Australia, Canada, France and Iran varieties were used as the first factor, and three plant densities of 300, 500, and 1000 plants per m2 were used as the second factor. Based on the results of this experiment, except for traits of seed number per capsule, 1000 seeds weight days to maturity and protein percent, other traits such as plant height, grain yield and oil content significantly responded to the plant density. The highest plant height and maximum grain yield at 1000 plants per m2 and the greatest amount of oil content at density of 500 plants per m2 were produced. All measured traits had significant effect in different linseed varieties. The highest plant height in Canadian linseed, he maximum grain yield, and days to maturity in Iranian linseed, the greatest amount of protein in France linseed and the maximum oil content in Canadian linseed were observed. Except for the trait of seed number per capsule, 1000 seeds weight, days to maturity, others including plant height, grain yield, percent of protein and oil content were significantly different in the interaction between density and variety. Canadian and Iranian linseed at density of 1000 plants per m2 produced maximum plant height, Iranian linseed at density of 1000 plants per m2 produced maximum grain yield and, France linseed at density of 1000 plants per m2 produced the greatest protein percent, and Canadian linseed at density of 300 plants per m2 also produced maximum oil percent. The general result in this experiment showed that, the density of 1000 plants per m2 was the best plant density and the Iranian linseed, due to great oil content and grain yield, was the most important linseed among other varieties.
