To determine the best selection indices for facilitating the selection procedure in a reproductive stage of 96 mutant lines (M2) of rice under different moisture conditions, an experiment was carried out in two environments at the research farm of Gonbad Kavous University in 2016 base on randomized complete block design with three replications. Evaluating the reduction percentage in the average values of traits showed that the most damages as affected by drought stress was due to decreases in numbers of filled grains, numbers of tillers, and 1000-grain weight. Results of stepwise regression analysis indicated that 1000-grain weight, plant height, numbers of filled grains, numbers of days to flowering, flag leaf rolling, numbers of tillers, and panicle length traits were respectively entered into the final multivariate regression model as important traits affecting grain yield under a flooded condition, and 1000-grain weight, numbers of days to flowering, plant height, fertility percentage, panicle length, flag leaf frying, and numbers of tillers were respectively entered under drought stress. Evaluation of direct and indirect effects of studied traits on the grain yield using a path analysis showed that, 1000-grain weight, due to a positive and high direct effect, and numbers of filled grains, due to an indirect effect via 1000-grain weight, can be considered as the most important traits for increasing the grain yield under flooded condition. However, 1000-grain weight and fertility percentage can be introduced as appropriate selection criteria for the grain yield under a drought condition.

In order to assessment the relationship between traits affecting yield of garden cress, an experiment was conducted in lattice square design with three replications in Eyvanekey Jihad Farm in 2016. The ANOVA showed that the difference among accessions was significant for all traits. There was a significant phenotypic correlation between yield and most of the traits. The highest value of phenotypic correlation was obtained between leaf height and leaf width (0.92). The regression analysis showed that the highest effect on the yield was due to leaf height and numbers of seeds per silique of lateral branches and main axis, as these three traits were about 93% of total yield changes and leaf height was the first trait that entered to the model and explained 91% of the variation. The path analysis of phenotypic correlation showed that the leaf height had the greatest direct effects on the yield (6.81). Leaf length, in addition to the direct effect on yield, through the rest of the traits has a positive indirect impact. In factor analysis, three independent factors explained about 70% of the yield variation. The first factor consists of number of silique per plant, number of seeds per silique of lateral branches and main axis has named seed factors. The purpose of this study was detection of phenotype correlation between yield and yield components, estimation of direct and indirect effects of yield components on yield and its part in diversity justification.

This study was carried out to investigate flower yield and yield components in Iranian Rosa damascena using 20 genotypes, collected from different regions of Iran and grown in Drylands and Deserts Research Station of Kashan, Iran, using a randomized complete block design with three replications in 2007-2008. Flower yield per plant, number of flowers per plant, plant height, leaf length, width, length and width of bud, length and width of pedicle, fresh weight of flower, number of petal per flower, length and width of receptacle, plant growth date, budding date, time of flowering and flowering period were recorded. A significant phenotypic correlation indicated a strong positive relationship between flower yield and number of flowers per plant. Result of stepwise regression analysis showed that 94 percent of total variation of flowers yield per plant could be explained by number of flowers per plant and weight of the fresh flower. The path analysis indicated that the number of flower per plant had the most direct effect on the yield. This suggested that number of flowers per plant and weight of the fresh flowers are the most important components determining flower yield per plant in Damask rose.

In order to determine the relationship between yield and some morphological and physiological traits, as well as important traits that affect grain yield in bread wheat, a field experiment was conducted at Cereal Research Farm, Seed and Plant Improvement Institue, KaraJ in 2007. Three hundred and thirty five bread wheat recombinant inbred lines were evaluated in an Alpha Lattice design with two replications. Grain yield was positively correlated with all of the yield components, but was negatively correlated with days to heading, days to anthesis, days to ripening, extrusion peduncle length and second internode length. In stepwise regression, grain production rate was the first variable entered in the model and explained a higher percentage variation in grain yield. Path analysis showed that grain production rate and biological yield (0.534 & 0.532) exerted the most direct effects on grain yield. On the basis of these result, it is suggested that criteria such as number of spike per m2, number of grain per m2, seed weight per spike, biological yield production rate , grain production rate and biological yield could be considered as effective criteria for selecting towards grain yield improvement in bread wheat.
