Water plays a very important role in the rice plant. In order to investigate the effects of irrigation methods and foliar application of nutrients on growth, yield, yield components, and quality of rice, an experiment has been conducted as split plots layouts based on a randomized complete block design with three replications and two factors including three irrigation methods (flooding, alternate wetting, drying, and Saturating) in the main plots as well as foliar spray in six levels (normal water, nitrogen, nitrogen+ potassium, nitrogen+ potassium+ zinc, nitrogen+ potassium+ zinc+ boron and nitrogen+ potassium+ zinc+ boron+ molybdenum) in the sub plots during 2018, in rice research institute, the deputy of Mazandaran (Amol), executed on a national cultivar. Results show that among irrigation method, fertilizer, and their interaction, paddy yield and percentage of amylose have been significantly at (p<0.01) percent with other qualitative traits being significant at (p<0.01) percent. The highest number of floret per panicle (198.73) and full grain (167.15), and percentage of amylose (21.67%) are obtained in saturated irrigation. The highest yield of paddy with an average of 6643.07 kg.ha-1 occurs in saturated irrigation under normal water foliar application and drought and moisture. Irrigation under nitrogen + potassium + zinc foliar irrigation with an average of 6163.13 kg.ha-1 compared to the control is obtained as the superior treatment in similar conditions were selected for this study.

In order to investigate the effect of a native plant growth promoting bacteria (Enterobacter sp.) on some vegetative characteristics and paddy yield of rice(cv. ‘Tarom Hashemi’), a field experiment was carried out in Babol (Aghamalek village) at 2016. This experiment was arranged in split plots based on a randomized complete block design with three replications. Six levels of potassium sulfate fertilizer (PSF: 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 kg ha-1) were used as the main plots and four levels of inoculations (non-inoculation as control, seed inoculation in the seedbed condition, seedling root inoculation before transplanting time and combined both previously methods) served as the sub-plots. The results indicated that various methods of inoculation increased plant height (1.25-2.54%), tillers number per hill (TNH; 11.7-16.5%), total leaves number per hill (TLN; 12.5-14.2%), leaf area index (LAI; 7.16-17.9%) and paddy yield (PY; 14.6-19.8%) of rice and the occurring of anthesis stage were about one day sooner as compared to the control condition. In this experiment, the studied traits significantly influenced by PSF and various methods of inoculation, but the interaction effect between them were not significant. Among inoculation methods, the combined method was better than others. In addition, the values of all studied traits such as PH, TNH, TLN, LAI and PY (18.2% more than the control) increased as PSF increased from zero to 125 kg ha-1. Consequently, the application of Enterobacter sp. and PSF through improved the vegetative characteristics, particularly in LAI, TNH and TLN, resulted to increase in the radiation interception capacity, photosynthetic efficiency and improved PY of rice.

To evaluate of rice genotypes in various modified systems, an experiment was carried out as split plot in randomized complete blocks design with four replications at Neka region, Mazandaran province, Iran in 2011-2012. Cropping systems were chosen as main plots including conventional, improved and System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and genotypes as sub plots including: Sang Tarom, Hashemi Tarom, Neda and Shiroodi. The results indicated that the most number of fertile tiller per hill, number of spikelet per square meter (374.8 number) and number of filled spikelet percentage per panicle was produced in SRI that has led to the most paddy yield (6412 kg/ha). The most number of filled spikelet per panicle and filled spikelet percentage per panicle was obtained for cv. Tarom Hashemi. But, number of panicle per square meter (396.8) was the highest in cv. Neda. The maximum paddy yields were 7272 and 7315 kg/ha for cv. Neda and Shiroodi. The highest paddy yield was 7770 kg/ha that produced using SRI and cv. Neda. Paddy yield in SRI was 5.44 and 12.65 percentage more than improved and conventional systems, respectively. Therefore, SRI was a cropping system that with creating optimum management practices had led to increase of paddy yield and yield components of rice.
